Diesel Engine Theory Class

Join the engineers and get your hands dirty while fixing the Arthur Foss’ 700 horsepower diesel engine. This enormous 80-ton engine uses the same principles as modern diesels, but the parts are MUCH  bigger and easier to work on.  The next class focuses on overhauling the oil pump system, during which time participants will inspect damage to the old pump, learn about the pattern making process, visit a foundry where the new pump casting will be poured, and install the new pump under the supervision of experienced heavy duty diesel mechanics.   Instructor: Adrian Lipp of Old Tacoma Marine.

8:30 pm – 5 pm scheduled over five consecutive Saturdays in May and June; No prior engine experience necessary.
