Volunteer

Northwest Seaport is seeking volunteers & interns to support the organization. Join us today.

Technology Volunteer to help the organization make systemic improvements, strategic plans and “good technology decisions.” NWS will participate in DEEP DIVE PROGRAM with the 501 Commons organization.  Commitment includes: Working with NWS staff on organizational projects.  NOTE: Indicate interest in Volunteer Form.

Work Parties, for example, get you into maritime heritage and sometime grease or sawdust at the Historic Ships Wharf in Lake Union Park. Join other volunteers aboard the Arthur Foss, Lightship #83, and other vessels for hard work (at times), excellent company (most often) and good will (always).  Join us for getting things done and working for fun.  Email leader directly to “register” and complete the volunteer application form for first-time NWS volunteers.  View events for work party scheduling.

Docents welcome the public to make discoveries on their own and to experience the historic fleet with supporting information and stories.  Enthusiastic docents guide informal tours, help answer visitor questions and help NWS keep the boat open for weekends, Free First Thursdays, and special events at Seattle’s Lake Union Park.  No prior knowledge of maritime history is needed.  Get a head start by reviewing Tugboating on Puget Sound: A docent’s guide to the Arthur Foss (PDF).
